What is Pandemonium! Media?

Pandemonium! Media is a small web design company located in Portland, Oregon. I provide custom web design work for psychologists, small businesses, bands and individuals. I work hard to tailor the site to be exactly what you, the customer, want. I also work hard to keep custom website development affordable, without sacrificing quality in the process.

• Custom Design - To start, we’ll discuss color schemes and styles you like along with the information you want to communicate. From this, I’ll work up design ideas in Photoshop and send you images showing what the designs would look like when finished.
• Lean, Optimized Code - Once we agree on a design, I get to work writing efficient code to build your site. I use web standards to write code that is easily accessible, easily registered in search engines and is as “future proof” as possible.
• Content Management System - If needed, I can integrate your site with a content management system (i.e. Wordpress, custom designed system) that will allow you the freedom to update your site’s information on your own.

Who is this Darin guy?

First of all, I’m a 27 year old psychologist resident with a doctorate in Clinical Psychology. Web design and psychology might seem like a strange combination, but I’ve been fascinated with technology ever since I used my first computer in 1986. While I was teaching myself programming languages (which didn’t exactly make me popular in high school!) I also indulged my artistic side through drawing and painting. In fact, I almost decided to go to art school instead of pursuing a degree in psychology. During college I found a passion for web design that I indulged primarily for my own benefit, until I started designing web sites for other people in late 2004.

Now I balance my passion for psychology with freelance web design. I want to be the kind of designer who charges reasonable prices for a quality product, someone who will answer a question honestly, even if it means less money for me in the end. This is why I am a freelance web designer, and why I run my business the way that I do. I hope to be able to work for you, and give you a product you can be proud of.

• I played guitar in a punk rock band
  Unlike most assumptions about those of us who wear ties to work, I definitely have a rebellious side.
• I’m left handed
  Some people say left-handers are more creative, statistics say we have a shorter life span.  I’m not sure if that’s a fair trade.

• Bone
  Graphic novel that starts off as a comedy and ends up being a great fantasy/adventure story.
• Staring at the Sun: Overcoming the Terror of Death
  Irv Yalom (one of my professional idols) tackles a typically taboo subject… death.
• Watchmen
  A great graphic novel. Alan Moore uses techniques from “real” literature and film to make a great novel.
